The famous creator of Marcel The Shell, aka Dean Fleischer-Camp, has returned to YouTube from their long term hiatus. But they haven’t published another adorable Shell video in the series.

No, this video, appropriately titled Smile, is a very awkward compilation of people smiling and waiting for their picture to be taken, only for the photographer to be recording video. As authors of the super viral and popular Marcel The Shell videos, this too has instantly gone viral.

A popular art piece online is the daily photo diary. A person will take a photo of themselves on a daily basis for an extended period of time and compile the pictures into a personal time lapse piece.

But this one is very interesting as the subject suffered severe facial trauma from a bar fight in the middle of the experiment. Now he has documentation of his face healing.

Some do better than others for no apparent reason.  went viral last May after creating a stop motion video of 4.5 years worth of daily photographs. The video just went viral again recently after being covered by DailyMail
