A Day In New York City’s Youngest Truffle Dealer

Most nineteen year olds are in college, but Ian Purkayastha decided to follow a different path in life. He’s a dealer. No, not the illicit kind. He deals truffles, exotic mushrooms, and other gourmet food products in one of the Meccas of fancy food, New York City. The foodies of Munchies decided to follow Ian for a day to see what a work day for New York’s youngest truffle dealer is all about.

Truck Smashes Into Overpass

You know those signs that tell you how tall the upcoming overpass is while driving on the highway? Those aren’t there just to offer you trivial information. Trucks can only pass under certain heights and must always be aware of how tall an overpass is. This Long Island commuter noticed a truck driving on a car-only parkway and expected trouble. Sure enough, the tractor trailer smashed into an overpass which was too short. Ouch.

What It’s Like Every Time The Garbage Truck Comes By In New York City

New York City is an amazing place, but there’s a price you have to pay to live there. Everything is outrageously expensive, there’s no parking, and the trash! Walking through the city is like walking through a dump!

When the garbage trucks finally do make their rounds it seems like they only show up when you are trying to get a few more minutes of sleep. Do they take the trash and go on their way? Of course not!

As Louis C.K. demonstrates in this hilarious, over-the-top clip, they make sure to make as much noise as possible. Hey, if they don’t get to sleep in, nobody does!

Robinson Cano Surprises Yankees Fans While They’re Booing Him

Former New York Yankee Robinson Cano is now the second baseman for the Seattle Mariners. He just played at Yankee stadium Tuesday night wearing the Mariners uniform. It’s no surprise he was booed by faithful Yankee fans.

Assuming that would happen, Jimmy Fallon sent Robinson to the streets of the New York to be preemptively booed by fans before the game. The thing is, the fans thought they were booing a cardboard cutout of Robinson. Only after they booed, did he make himself known.

Awkward!

Now, this hilarious late night clip has gone viral with over 1.9 million views

Have the Homeless Become Invisible

Homelessness has become a serious issue in America, especially since the Great Recession of 2008. Sadly, besides for the pizza, Broadway shows, and the Yankees, New York City is also famous for their homeless. Though the numbers are difficult to document, it is estimated that the homeless population in the Big Apple is over 50,000.

To see if the homeless have become invisible to most people, charity group New York Rescue Mission conducted this powerful social experiment to see if people would recognize their own relatives if they were dressed as a homeless person on the streets. The results are devastating.

The video has gone viral over the past week with over half a million hits so far!
